Benchmarks show that Firefox 3 uses less memory than Internet Explorer 7 and Opera. A number of significant fixes and improvements have brought down the open-source browser’s memory footprint and could make it a more viable choice in mobile environments.

Apple patent would allow iPhone clamshell March 18, 2008

Apple has developed a technique that could allow for a smaller iPhone with all the controls but half the size, according to a recent but not yet fully public US Patent Office filing. Described as a “dual sided trackpad,” it would allow multi-touch on the inside and out: in other words, it would allow an iPhone flip.

Scientists slam publishers over Wikipedia ban March 18, 2008

Scientists who want to describe their work on Wikipedia should not be forced to give up the kudos of a respected journal. So says a group of physicists who are going head-to-head with a publisher because it will not allow them to post parts of their work to the online encyclopaedia, blogs and other forums.
